I’m still pretty astounded that, having listened to the whole Berlin Trilogy now, I had only ever heardΒ one song from all of these albums: “Heroes”

After being disappointed by “Heroes”Β yesterday, I was fairly gun-shy going intoΒ Lodger today. The first few tracks were especially disappointing, given that the first two albums I liked at the beginning and I thought they went downhill about half way through. But eventually I found this album to be just the opposite. Aside fromΒ Repetition I liked the second half of this album quite a bit.

There was a time when I would pick an artist and listen to their entire discography all the way through. I don’t think I remember everybody, but I know I listened to all of Bruce Springsteen, The Police, and Warren Zevon. Probably also Tom Waits? I considered doing that at some point during this project with other groups (or even the same ones again). Having started off going all over the map not even repeating genres at first, and then listening to the same artist three days in a row, I have to say I greatly prefer the variety. I will probably listen to more Bowie before this year is out, but it’ll be a while. And I won’t try to go through his whole catalog at once. I might not even listen to the rest in chronological order. If I do decide to go through someone’s whole discography I definitely won’t do it in a row, and I may jump around in time with others, too.

I’m really looking forward to the next two days. I’ve finally gotten some suggestions, and I’m going to listen to them tomorrow and Sunday.
